Social services gets two stars

WARRINGTON'S social services staff have notched up a two-star rating for the third year running.

The ratings are an annual measure of every local authority's performance in delivering social services functions, based on a scale of zero to three, with three the top rating.

Clr Colin Froggatt, Warrington Borough Council's executive member for social services, said: "I'm delighted social services has maintained its performance from previous years.

"This demonstrates the department's commitment to maintaining a high level of service in the borough.

"As a council we are always striving to deliver top rate social services and the star rating is one way of letting the public know how effective our services are."

The independent Social Services Inspectorate (SSI) carries out the ratings.

In Warrington, both the children's and adults' services were highlighted as strong areas.

An SSI spokesman said: "The ratings are intended to improve public information about the current performance of services."
