Pyramid gets funding for new artists

THE Pyramid arts centre has received funding of more than £15,000 to support its growing regional reputation.

The money will be used to commission a local artist to design and create a piece of art, which will be placed inside the centre.

It will also be used to secure a company in residence and possibly to continue with the development of its contemporary dance audience.

The money will allow the Pyramid to support eight new and emerging artists from different art forms over the coming year.

A spokesman said: "Pyramid very much relies on funding of this kind to offer up-and-coming artists a platform to showcase their talents.

"We believe this can only boost Pyramid's growing reputation in the arts world."
