Children play Santa to the less fortunate

CHRISTMAS gifts for needy children will be collected in St Paul's Church, Burtonwood, on Friday, December 10.

At the 10am mass, children will be able to donate presents which will be distributed to those less well off throughout Liverpool archdiocese.

Andy Cocker, head teacher of St Paul of the Cross Primary School, said: "The presents should be clearly marked 'boy' or 'girl' and the age group for which they are suitable. The gifts will be arranged around the crib in church.

"Obviously there is no compulsion for the children to bring a present, but if at all possible we would encourage them to do so. This is a special event, which hopefully brings the true message of Christmas. We do urge families to support this if possible."
