Guide Lydia sets her sights on Mexico

A TALENTED teenager will visit Mexico after being picked to represent UK Guides.

Lydia Ruddick, aged 14, of Goldcliff Close, Callands, will be going on the international Guide camp to the south American country in August. She had to pass strenuous tests and interviews to be selected and still needs to raise £1,200.

Lydia will be one of only 10 UK representatives and says she was surprised to be chosen. She said: "I went on two camps where we were observed to see how we would react in unexpected situations and how we interacted with each other. The organisers did things like switching the tents around and putting us in with people we didn't know."

The aim of the international camp is to bring people together from around the world. Lydia said: "I made new friends at the selection camps and am looking forward to meeting people from all over the world."

Anyone able to help her raise the money for Mexico should call 411678.
