Dental plans give health trust reason to smile

PLANS to build a dental care centre in Winsford that will provide services for thousands of residents have been given the backing of the health authority.

Integrated Dental Holdings (IDH), which already has a practice in Cheviot Square, is planning to expand and relocate to Winsford Cross Shopping Centre.

The proposals are being supported by Central Cheshire Primary Care Trust as part of its plans to improve dental services in the area.

Heather Pope, Central Cheshire PCT dental service manager, said: "This development is part of our Dental Action Plan and will lead to significant improvements in the provision of NHS dentistry in Winsford."

The new dental centre will provide six dentists and is seen as a major boost to healthcare provisions in the town.

A spokeswoman for Central Cheshire PCT said: "The project is still in its early stages and is subject to planning permission and approval by the PCT board.

"It is hoped the new premises could be open in the summer of 2005."

Although no planning application has been submitted, a letter was sent to Winsford Town Council planning committee for consideration.
