Club owner aims to unearth new talent

MUSICAL talent is set to flourish in Winsford after the opening of a state of the art recording studio for use by up and coming bands.

It is hoped the studio at Debees Music Bar will give musicians of all ages the opportunity to develop their talents.

Damon Horrill, owner of Debees, has spent more than £10,000 on the Pollen 8 studio and is expecting great things to happen.

He said: "Pollen 8 is offering local bands support, advice, gigs and now great recordings.

"We are planting seeds that we hope will help to forge a vibrant, organic, local music scene.

"It is important that people are encouraged to express themselves and that is especially the case with young people."

Damon has set up the studio with the sole aim of discovering talented musicians in Winsford.

He said: "Although professional sound engineers need to be paid, Pollen 8 does not bow to commercial pressures.

"We are not duty bound to make a profit. For us it is just another part of the long term investment in music that Debees has been making for a number of years."

John Wilson, a musician working at Pollen 8, said: "Our main aim is to create a community of bands and musically driven people inspiring each other to progress and evolve - hence the name Pollen 8.

"This project can't work if the bands and the music fans don't support it by coming to the gigs, reading the fanzines and showing there are people in the area that are passionate about music."
