TAKING ECSTASY KILLED OUR SON

A statement from Scott's family said: "Scott was a fun loving young man in the prime of his life.

"Our family has been devastated by his tragic and unnecessary death.

"Scott had everything to live for and a tiny pill known as ecstasy has shattered our world."

Scott, who was a former pupil at Woodford Lodge High School, travelled to the Air nightclub in Digbeth with friends to watch the DJ Paul Van Dyke at the Godskitchen event.

His family said Scott had recently started going out on the dance scene and are now calling for more drugs education for young people.

The statement said: "Scott was always anti-drugs and for some reason we have not yet determined why he died from ecstasy.

"This pill is a killer and our children should be made aware of the dangers.

"There is not enough education or information about this drug - do our children really know what they are taking?

"No parents, brother or sister should have to suffer as we have.

"I'm sure the people selling them do not worry about the consequences and devastation they cause."

A police spokeswoman confirmed that an inquest had been opened into Scott's death following the results of a toxicology report, although a date has not yet been set.

Police refused to comment on whether investigations into Scott's death are ongoing.
