Footballers have a hoot on TV show

A TASTE of fame is being enjoyed by a Barnton football team after its television debut.

The cameras followed pub team Barn Owl FC on Sunday for a special feature which was shown on Granada television's Soccer Night on Thursday, and they were rolling to catch the team's 6-0 triumph in a match against the Bowling Green.

Dave Preston, manager of the team and landlord of the pub, said: "It is good exposure for the players because we were bottom of the league until Sunday, but we've been playing really well."

One of the stars of the day was Adam Lang who played in the match only two days after returning from Iraq, where he had been serving with the army since April.

Dave said: "He scored two goals - and two good goals as well."
