Cash to help victims of domestic violence

A CASH award has been given to a campaign that aims to help victims of domestic violence in Warrington.

Cheshire Police Authority's Community Safety Partnership Fund provided the grant of £1,708 to the 'No-one has the right to hurt you in the name of Love' campaign.

The campaign focuses on educating and improving the safety of victims of domestic violence, in particular black and ethnic minority groups throughout Warrington and Cheshire.

Peter Nurse, police authority chairman, said: "Since the fund has been introduced, 81 projects have been successful in receiving grants totalling more than £330,000.

"The award of these grants will assist local groups and organisations to provide much needed facilities for the community in their area."

The Community Safety Partnership Fund was established in 1999 to help community groups and organisations to realise safety measures for their communities.

Mr Nurse presented the awards to a number of successful projects and campaigns at a ceremony on Friday.
