College principal jets off for talks in South Africa

SOUTH Cheshire College principal David Collins will be setting off on a ground-breaking trip to South Africa this week to take part in a conference on curriculum development.

Dr Collins has been invited to the event in Midrand near Johannesburg as a guest of the South African government.

During his three-day trip, which starts on Saturday, he will be presenting a paper at the conference and leading a number of workshops as part of a British Council team of consultants.

The event will be attended by more than 300 participants from colleges, industry and various funding bodies.

Dr Collins, who is an expert in quality improvement strategies, has previously undertaken work in America, Australasia and Asia, as well as throughout the UK - but the conference will be the first time he has worked in Africa.

The trip follows a visit from three South African education delegates last month - who met up with South Cheshire College's senior management team.
