Mersey Street flats plan

SIXTY-four new flats will be built in Warrington town centre if councillors give the go-ahead.

Countryside Properties is applying to build three four-storey apartments plus 64 parking spaces on Mersey Street's one- acre brown belt land. The land was formerly Lockers Engineering Works but all the buildings have been cleared in preparation for re-development.

Originally Countryside was going to build a new headquarters for its business on the land but has now changed its plans and hopes to use the land for flats, aimed at first time buyers, investors and young people.

Anyone wishing to comment on the application should write to the council before November 24 quoting reference number 2004/04417.
