Police hunt bottle thug after assault

POLICE are hunting a thug who viciously attacked a man with a bottle in Great Sankey on bonfire night.

The victim was walking past the Woodlands Pub, on Liverpool Road, at around 11pm when he was approached by a gang of youths.

One of the group then hit the man in the face with a bottle, causing a wound to the man's left ear and cheek.

Police believe the attacker walked off down Liverpool Road and caught a bus into the town centre.

The man is described as white, aged 17 to 18, broad and around 6ft tall.
