Plan routes in winter

ROAD users in Mid Cheshire are being encouraged to pick up a map and plan their route in icy conditions.

Cheshire County Council has produced a free map detailing gritting routes, which also contains useful information about the authority's winter highway maintenance service.

Some 10,000 have been distributed to petrol stations across the county as well as libraries and area highway offices.

Clr Andrew Needham, executive environmental member, said: "By showing at a glance the gritted routes across Cheshire, I am sure this map will be a useful tool to help all road users plan a safe journey."

The foldaway map is contained in a plastic tax disc holder, which adheres to the inside of a windscreen.
