Police appeal as thieves hit Birchwood area

WHILE burglary rates are falling across Warrington, there has been a recent spate of burglaries in and around Birchwood.

Police are now appealing to Birchwood residents to keep an eye out for anything suspicious so they can catch the culprits.

Recently two men, described by police as being in their 20s, were disturbed breaking into a house in the Gorse Covert area.

Police believe that these men could be responsible for committing other similar offences where offenders have stolen jewellery, cash and electrical items including games consoles.

A police spokesman said residents should be wary of people who might try to sell the stolen items door to door.

He continued: "Everyone has a responsibility to establish where these items have come from and to reduce the opportunity for thieves to sell on stolen property."

If you have any information about burglaries in the Birchwood area call Warrington CID on 01244613884 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
