It's a hard knock life for us

CHILDREN at a Fearnhead primary school have been taking a step back in time to learn more about what life was like for their Victorian ancestors.

The pupils at St Bridget's RC Primary arrived in costume to experience a day in the life of a Victorian pupil and compare it to their normal school day. And, not only was the classroom transformed, the children were given authentic tools for the special school day courtesy of Warrington Library. A dunce's cap, skipping ropes and blackboards were just some of the artefacts on loan as pupils had a go at old-fashioned arithmetic and handwriting skills.

Teacher Ceri Banister said the event was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the children.
