Auditors praise council for its books

DISTRICT auditors have praised Warrington Borough Council for keeping its books in order.

District auditor Julian Farmer told councillors at the executive board meeting at Warrington Town Hall on Monday night: "Your accounts represent fairly the position of the council as at March 31, 2004.

"I am happy to give you an unqualified opinion certificate of your accounts."

The meeting heard the council was almost put into the top category, four.

Auditor Eddie Drozdziak said: "You are category three point, very high. There's some room for improvement and I am sure you will get there next year."
