Steve shows naked ambition

A FRODSHAM man has dared to bare all for charity in scenes reminiscent of British comedy film Calendar Girls.

Steve Jennings, of Chester Road, jumped at the chance of appearing in his company calendar even though the photo shoot required him to pose in little more than a cowboy hat.

The 42-year-old - also known as Mr March - said he didn't hesitate when Kirsten Murray, his colleague at the head office branch of Turfland, came up with the idea.

He said: "Kirsten asked us if we'd volunteer and I didn't hesitate. I'm a bit like that - I always like to jump in feet first."

Kirsten said: "The aim behind the calendar is to raise money for Cancer Research. The calendar is in the Women's Institute style: tasteful, humorous and with all rude bits tactfully covered by rolls of turf, machinery or whatever seemed appropriate at the time."

When the big day arrived his nerves were on overdrive, but Steve said as soon as he saw his workmates strike a pose, he knew he could do it.

He said: "I just tried not to think about it. I was a little but nervous but it wasn't that bad in the end."

And what does his wife think about the fact he could be about to become the spring season pin up on a thousand walls across the UK?

Steve said: "She was shocked. She couldn't believe I'd done it, but all her girlfriends have seen it now and thought it was good, so she's quite happy with it."

And by the end of the day, the team even managed to get photographer Christopher Brooks to take his clothes off.

The calendars are available from Turfland's depot collection in Dutton and are priced at £4.99.

They can also be purchased by ringing 01704 501555, or emailing kirsten.murray@turfland.co.uk. All proceeds will go towards Cancer Research.
