There's no room for improvement with hotel boss Steven

NANTWICH hotel manager Steven Ogden is celebrating after winning a prestigious award in the region's tourism 'oscars'.

Mr Ogden, deputy general manager at Rookery Hall Hotel, scooped the most outstanding young tourism manager award at an awards' ceremony at Mere Golf and Country Club near Knutsford last week.

The award is part of the Cheshire Awards for Tourism Skills (CATS), which recognise the top industry performers in the Cheshire-Warrington area.

Roddy Whiteford, Rookery Hall's general manager, believes that Mr Ogden fully deserves the recognition he has received.

He said: "We are absolutely delighted for Steven and it is due recognition for how he has established himself at Rookery Hall.

"He fully deserves this award because he is a very talented individual who has managed his team wonderfully well in the two-and-a-half years he has been with us.

"It recognises his ability in getting the best out of people, and leading by example."

Now in their fourth year, the CATS awards were launched to address the skills shortage within Cheshire's tourist industry.

They are designed to recognise talent and commitment, promote tourism as a first-class career choice, and encourage employers to invest in training and development.

Mr Ogden's efforts over the past year greatly impressed the awards' judges, who commented:

"This award pays tribute to young managers who aspire to become positive role models.

"Steven Ogden has illustrated keen determination to make his team the best in the tourism industry, and shows truly inspirational leadership."
