Police appeal after post snatch

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a thief stole redeemable vouchers from a postman's bag as he conducted his round in Winsford.

The incident happened between 8.40am and 8.45am on Wednesday last week, near to the Top House pub on Wharton Road.

The Royal Mail worker left his bag momentarily as a white youth, possibly wearing a school uniform, was walking past.

When the postman returned to his bag a number of envelopes containing vouchers, which can be redeemed at local shops, were missing.

The offender ran off towards Kingsway.

A police spokesman said: "The offender was spotted by a passing female motorist and we are urging that motorist to come forward or anyone else who may have witnessed this incident."

Police are also asking shopkeepers to be on the lookout for anyone attempting to redeem the vouchers.

The vouchers have a barcode attached and are made out to a named person and can only be redeemed by that person.
