Centre sets standard for the continent

A MID Cheshire call centre is proud to be the most culturally advanced in Europe after scooping a prestigious award.

Barclays' Gadbrook Park call centre won the best call centre culture trophy at the European Call Centre of the Year Awards.

The honour is recognition of its advances in providing the best possible working environment for employees.

Rob Hawthorne, head of Gadbrook Park, said: "We pride ourselves on looking after the individual and we do that in many ways.

"If people are happy in their job then I think it shows in the quality of their work and therefore our customers have a more pleasant experience dealing with them."

Barclays believes its employees at Gadbrook Park are given support in many different ways.

Mr Hawthorne said: "We provide fresh fruit for workers every day which we feel is very important.

Personal well being and healthy eating is something we take very seriously.

"Financial well being is also something we feel is important so there are mortgage specialists available that employees can get advice from.

"We also provide flexible working hours for our employees so they can work at a time that suits them.

"This is especially beneficial for mothers who look after children during the day, but want to work."

Call centre staff are now looking forward to building on their success in the future.

Mr Hawthorne said: "The main message is this is a happy place to work and we are all oozing with pride.

"Quite simply we are the best in Europe."
