Village waits to see what the future holds for its residents

MONTHS of hard work, planning and research are about to reach fruition as Moulton Parish Council prepares to launch the village's parish plan.

The village's residents have a week to wait before they can see what lies in store for Moulton when the document is published next Wednesday night.

Funded by the Countryside Agency, the Parish Plan scheme was set up to allow towns and villages to plan and create a vision of how they would like their community to be. Work on the Moulton plan began last July,

Fran Bennett, secretary of the Implementation of Moulton Parish Plan group, said: "It was set up to identify issues and the needs of the villages.

"We had a consultation meeting with residents and they told us what they wanted doing.

"Then we sent a questionnaire to everyone in the village.

"We split the plan into five different categories and created an action plan."

As a result sub committees have been created to deal with business and economic development, community and social issues, the environment, traffic and young people and leisure facilities.

Fran said groups had already started work on some parts of the plan.

Proposals are under way for forming a youth club, and celebrations are being organised for the 60th anniversary of VE day next May.

She said: "It's been a lot of hard work and it will be a relief when the plan is launched next week."

The Moulton Parish Plan will be unveiled at 8pm on Wednesday, November 24, at Moulton School, on School Lane.

Each house in the village will be issued with a copy in the coming weeks.
