I WAS walking in Cinnamon Brow today, heading towards a narrow pathway between two houses.
This is a normal route for locals including children and mothers. Suddenly, I was startled by a loud noise, which turned out to be three young louts on a motorbike. They sped past me and went down the pathway towards Perth Close. If I or anyone else had been on that pathway, it would have been a bloodbath, since they were going fast and there would have been no time for anyone to take evasive action.
I decided to report this incident to the police, since the louts looked quite young and were putting themselves and others at risk.
I rang the number given in the phone book for Warrington District, but there was no reply, despite hanging on for some time. I therefore rang 999, but was informed that since it was not an emergency they were not prepared to listen. I pointed out that I had tried to ring the normal number, but there was no message to indicate other callers on the line, just nothing.
What does one have to do in Warrington to speak to the police? The only time one sees police in Warrington is at the weekend in Bridge Street, dealing with all the drunks and yobs.
Decent law-abiding people are not apparently valued in this town.
