New budding

buddies take to playground

PLAYTIME at a Woolston primary school means nobody is left out thanks to a new 'play buddy' scheme which ensures no child feels lonely.

More than 30 children from years five and six at Woolston Community Primary School have been elected as 'buddies' to work on a rota system in the playground.

Easily recognisable by their red caps, the children are there to assist or play with children who find themselves alone at playtime.

They also assist with traditional playground games, giving other children ideas for playtime.

The play buddies trained with the school's infant and junior midday assistants and Elaine Bruce from the healthy schools initiative to hone their skills.
