Widnes Moorfield

Portico Panthers U8s 36

Widnes Moorfield U8s 28

PORTICO took an early lead playing down the hill and continued to pile on the pressure for most of the first half.

Moorfield came back into the game and for long periods the game was at a stalemate with both sides holding off strong attacking runs.

Despite the result, no more could have been asked from Moorfield who produced arguably their most solid display of the season.

Tries from Jack Connor, Ross Simpson (top tackler award), Alex Mellor, Edward Connor, Michael Porter (coach's award) and man of the match Alex Smith (2) showed how well the workload was shared between the team.

That combined with the highest tackle count (108) by the Widnes youngsters this season illustrated what a hard working display this was.

Supporters man of the match went to Lewis Whitfield.
