Tax hike a possibility

COUNCIL Tax payers could be forced to pay the price for local authorities' increased pub licensing responsibilities, the Local Government Association (LGA) has warned.

From February, councils will oversee applications for pub licences. But with no indication of whether Government-set fees will cover their costs, councils could be forced to increase council tax to pay administration costs.
