Special delivery. Baby Sam just couldn't wait to be born ... in corridor

LITTLE Samuel Everett couldn't wait to make his debut in the world when he arrived within 35 minutes of his mum going into labour.

He arrived on the scene so soon that mum, 31-year-old Colleen, was forced to give birth in the hospital corridor.

And she celebrated his arrival with two paracetamol washed down with a glass of Shiraz.

Colleen, a teacher at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School, only finished work on Friday, October 22. She had pains on Saturday night, but was sent home by hospital staff who said her baby could take up to another week to arrive.

"I just carried on with my normal routine," said Colleen.

"But when I was at home on Tuesday night I got these terrible pains.

"I was watching Holby City and at five past nine I got the most incredible pain ever that did not seem to stop.

"I rang my mum and she came round to look after my daughter, Elizabeth, aged three, and my husband took me to hospital."

Colleen and husband Paul left their Appleton Thorn home at 9.25pm and just over half an hour later were the proud parents of healthy 8lbs 7oz baby Samuel.

Colleen said: "It was the most traumatic 35 minutes of my life.

"I got to the maternity wing and went straight to the toilets, I knew I wouldn't make it to the delivery suite."

Nurses managed to help Colleen into the corridor, but she couldn't get on to a trolley. She gave birth to Samuel lying in the hospital corridor.

Colleen continued: "I was in labour for three days with my first, so I asked everyone to pray that this would be quick. I didn't expect it to be that quick."
