New centre helps diabetics

DIABETES sufferers in Middlewich have received a boost with the opening of the new diabetes centre at Leighton Hospital.

The centre will be staffed by a team of consultants, podiatrists, diabetes specialist nurses and dieticians.

Senior podiatrist Faith Murray said: "In bringing all these services together, we will be able to deliver a more efficient service to our patients.

"We also hope to introduce some facilities which have not been available before, such as group education sessions."

The new facility, which cost £300,000, is located in the outpatients area of the hospital and will act as a one stop shop, allowing patients access to information, receive treatment and attend clinic appointments in a central area.

For more information about the centre, call Janet Slack in the appeal office on 01270 612069.
