PLANS to make history come alive are marching along nicely with the help of a £5,000 lottery grant.
DAN have received the money to build an enormous mosaic at a Castle bus stop, featuring lifesize Roman characters, as part of a year-long Roman project in Northwich.
The mosaic would be situated on Chester Road, at the site where a Roman fort once stood.
Hartford artist Michael Troy has provided the overall vision for the mosaic, but DAN hope that the people of Castle will get involved in its eventual design.
Nick Hughes, from DAN, said: "We're hoping to work with different groups of people from Castle to come up with the design.
"There are five different panels for five characters - and we want to do it as a community project."
Local historian Brian Curzon said: "It will look like Romans are waiting for the bus with modern people.
"People will know that they are at a Roman location without having to stop and read anything."
Now that funding is in place, the group are seeking planning permission for the project.
