Path woes a slippery slope

ANNOYED Winwick residents should soon see an improvement in a slippy footpath, say parish councillors.

The council has been chasing Warrington Borough Council to tidy up leaves for the past six months and now believes it has won a victory for it to be cleaned.

The problem path runs from Rectory Lane to Farringdon Road. As leaves have started to fall it has become slippy but now the borough council has promised to tidy it up.

Chris Haggett, finance clerk to the parish council said: "It is a question of removing the dead leaves and nettles. There is a bollard at the end which means a mini sweeper can't be sent in but the borough council have now promised to take some action, even if it means sweeping up by hand."

Clr Ann Iddon said: "Every day there are complaints about the path. It is very slippy and as winter draws in it will only get worse."
