Town bow out of cup

WARRINGTON Town reserves soccer team crashed out of the Cheshire Senior Cup at the first hurdle on Saturday.

The Mid-Cheshire League outfit fell 1-0 to West Cheshire League side West Kirkby at Victoria Park Arena.

Cook struck the bar for West Kirkby with a thunderous drive but Town were defending well with Johnson, in particular, standing out in the rearguard..

But it was no surprise when the visitors went ahead in the 37th minute as Hughes defeated goalkeeper Tyrer from close range.

Kemel, Bell and substitute Liam Sweeney all came close for a Town side that played with three strikers for much of an improved second half home showing. But West Kirkby held out.

Tierney and Brownbill excelled for Warrington along with Johnson.
