Confidence rising at Warrington Town

WARRINGTON Town cruised into the second round of the Liverpool Senior Cup after shrugging off some first half jitters.

Lower league Formby posed Town plenty of problems in the first 45 minutes but goals by Lee Riley, Graeme Mitchell and Matty Farrell ended their resolve.

Riley and Farrell headed home Tommy Baker free kicks while Mitchell netted with a 30-yard wonder strike.

Town manager Glenn Walker, who rested several key players for Tuesday night's cup clash, said: "That is now three wins on the bounce and the signs are that our confidence is slowly picking up.

"I was pleased with keeping a clean sheet and the players that I brought back into the side came out of the game with a lot of credit."

Town: Terry O'Hanlon, Matty Farrell, Danny Salt, Iain Dyson, Lee Riley, Lee Webster, Tommy Baker, Steve Latham, Graeme Mitchell, Chris Moores, Dave Tickle. Subs used: Phil Mitchell, Terry Nestor, Mike Heverin.
