FOR 30 years the waiting room at Cuddington station has stood empty and derelict.
Now a Cuddington woman is hoping to convert the room into a gallery for the sale of art and collectables.
Joan Booth, of Station House, Warrington Road, has applied to the borough council for permission to change the use of the space.
Joan, now retired, who was an assistant matron at Sandiway Manor for 19 years, is hoping the gallery will be up and running early next year if permission is granted.
The paintings on sale will be by artist Brian Booth, 64, whose work is mainly on a maritime theme.
He has already shown some of his work in a shop called Cobwebs.
There could also be pen and ink work on sale by Joan's son Trevor Booth.
He has already had an exhibition at Northwich Memorial Hall but whether he will take part is yet to be decided.
Joan also has some collectable items after becoming interested in ceramic goods.
She said: "I am hopeful this change of use will be accepted.
"The waiting room has been derelict for more than 30 years and we are hoping to redecorate it and put in a new window.
"There were a lot of old railway tools in there when we got in.
"We thought that if we hung the paintings on the wall, someone might be interested."
