Cabbie dies after collision

A TAXI driver from Winsford died after his car collided with a vehicle leaving a petrol station forecourt in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at Leighton Hospital following the incident on the A49 Sandiway near its junction with the A556, at 12.07am.

A female passenger in the silver Skoda Octavia taxi received slight injuries.

The taxi was in collision with a blue Citroen C2 driven by a 17-year-old local woman as she exited the forecourt of the Shell petrol station.

Both the driver and her 17-year-old male passenger received slight injuries.
