Staff hope for top award

WARRINGTON Collegiate staff will learn today, Thursday, if they have won a prestigious award recognising excellence in giving advice and guidance to students.

The Collegiate's Learner Services team has been nominated for a Matrix Excellence Award.

The Collegiate is one of 13 organisations from across England and Northern Ireland to have been shortlisted for a Matrix Excellence Award.

Hairdressing and beauty student Melanie Fox from Longford is keeping her fingers crossed for today's results. Melanie, aged 23, has benefited from the college's learner services department's advice.

She said: "Marie Keeley has worked so hard to improve my situation and I feel that without her help and guidance I wouldn't have been able to continue my studies.

"I was going to see Marie almost on a day-to-day basis and she supported me throughout.

"I'm really pleased the Collegiate has been nominated for this award. It is well deserved. The learner services team go out of their way to help people".

Head of learner services Nicola Meredith said: "The Matrix process has enabled us to re-evaluate everything we do, by seeing it through the eyes of the people who are using our service."
