Postman hurt after being hit by car 'on mend'

A POSTMAN who was seriously injured when he was hit by a car is making a slow recovery, says his nephew.

As reported in the Midweek Guardian, postman Reg Bond was knocked down on Monday last week when he was returning from the letterbox on the A56 Chester Road, near Daresbury.

The incident happened at around 4.45pm when he was hit as he crossed the road by a silver Citroen Saxo car.

Mr Bond, from Bewsey, broke his leg and shoulder blade, and suffered from fractured ribs, and a collapsed lung.

He had to have pins put in his elbow.

He is now recovering at Warrington Hospital.

Alan Scully, Mr Bond's nephew, said his uncle had come off the ventilator and that he was improving.

Police are speaking to the driver of the car, who stopped at the scene of the accident, and are making inquiries.
