Police seek information on teenage firestarters

POLICE in Stockton Heath are appealing for information regarding a fire that was set behind the Forge Shopping Centre this week.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Monday, when witnesses reported seeing three people attempting to set fire to bins at the rear of the London Road shops.

One of the culprits is described as being a boy, aged between 14 and 16, with short hair and a spotty complexion. He was wearing a green football shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms.

A girl, aged between 14 and 16, was also seen. She was wearing a school uniform.

The fire was extinguished very early but if it had spread it could have had more serious consequences.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Graham Waring, of the Stockton Heath Community Action Team, on 652222, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
