CODENAMED Operation Chrome, the police investigation into Salisbury's behaviour began on May 10 2002.
Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt. Adrian Wright said: "We were invited into the hospital to investigate allegations by the senior management after concerns were raised by Salisbury's work colleagues.
"The inquiry has been conducted by a small, dedicated team of officers over a two year period in a professional manner displaying great sensitivity.
"I would like to pass on the thoughts of the investigating team to the families of the victims.
"They have remained brave and strong throughout what has been a lengthy and complex enquiry. We hope that the conclusion of the investigation will now allow them to continue with their lives
"Each one of the victims in this case was an elderly and vulnerable member of society, this added to our determination to see the allegations thoroughly investigated and justice be done.
"I would like to extend our thanks to the witnesses who appeared in court, we realise that this can often be a daunting experience but the successful prosecution owes to their commitment to see justice done.
"It is important to note that the investigation involved more allegations than those that were brought before the court and in these cases the families are fully aware of the outcome of our enquiries.
"We would therefore like to reassure members of the public that we will not be making any further investigations into the deaths of any other patients at Leighton Hospital.
