Thousands expected at annual show

CHESHIRE'S biggest show gets under way near Knutsford today, Tuesday, and there will be plenty of Warrington people at the two-day spectacular.

There will be more than 3,500 horses, some from as far as America, Holland and Germany, as well as 500 cattle, sheep, goats, more than 700 rare breeds, poultry, dogs, pigeons and rabbits at the Tabley Showground.

David Broster, show secretary, said: "Numbers in the show classes have grown tremendously - with livestock levels now back to pre-foot and mouth levels. We are looking forward to an extremely high standard of entries."

There is expected to be tens of thousands of people at the two-day event.

David added: "This will be the 14th show held at the present showground at Tabley, and each year has seen the show develop further."

The other attractions will include the King's Division Normandy Band, Equimat Sport Horse challenge, pony club games, a grand parade, and Inter-Hunt team relay.

There will be around 600 stands open from 8.30am to 6pm.
