A lesson in what can be achieved

AN open day was held in Whitecross last week that aimed to highlight the learning opportunities that are available in the area for people from ethnic minorities.

Warrington Collegiate, along with a number of other agencies, spearheaded the day, which took place at the Whitecross Community Centre last Monday.

The purpose was to target people in Whitecross, Dallam and Bewsey and make them aware of learning opportunities.

It was also a chance for them to find out if they had any specific learning needs.

Learning workshops were set up, including digital photography and information technology, and health checks and blood pressure testing were also on offer.

Those who attended got to find out about: safety in the home, job searching through Connexions, community policing, children's information service, family learning, the Warrington Islamic Society, healthy eating, financial literacy and jobs through Job Centre Plus.
