MAY I, through the columns of your newspaper, thank all those residents in Eccleston Ward who showed their confidence in me and voted for me at last Thursday's local elections. Although I was not successful in gaining a seat on the council. I was delighted with the level of support I received and also the number of good wishes, both by telephone and by card.

Could I also thank my opponents for the way in which the election was conducted and offer them my good wishes for the future? With the changing political scene in St Helens, I wish them every success in bringing about the changes to our town, for the benefit of all the community.
