Bogus caller targets woman

AN ELDERLEY woman from Davenham was the victim of yet another bogus tradesman scam last week.

In a variation of the recent distraction burglaries that have taken place since the beginning of this month, the Green Lane resident was conned into parting with money by a man claiming to be a gardener.

Between 10am and 10.40am on Tuesday, June 8, the woman discussed and agreed a price for work to be carried out at the property.

The man then gained entry into the house by requesting a glass of water before asking the woman for money.

He then left the property without carrying out any of the work agreed.

Police have described the man as being between white, between 34 to 37 years of age, 5ft 9in, of heavy build and clean-shaven with a fair complexion.

He was wearing a navy blue baseball cap, pink vest and navy blue jeans.

Anyone with information should contact Northwich police station on 01606 48000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
