Stars and their ties help to raise funds for charity

CELEBRITY autographed ties went under the hammer in aid of the Warrington branch of Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Stars including Sir Michael Caine, Dermot O'Leary and many more donated their ties to raise money for the cancer charity.

Chester accountants McLintock & Partners organised the celebrity tie auction, which took place at the city's Queen Hotel.

And it was a huge success, raising more than £2,000 for Macmillan.

John McLintock, senior partner at the firm, said: "We never dreamed we would raise so much money for the charity - the proceeds have far exceeded our original estimates. And the celebrity element has definitely added a bit more excitement to our office life in the past few months."

The company handed over the money to Heather Sutton, of Macmillan Cancer Relief, last week. In addition to donation cheques rolling in, so are more celebrity ties, even though they are too late to be included in the auction.

They will be given to Macmillan to use for further fundraising activities.
