Summer fair to benefit youngsters

A SUMMER fair is being held to treat youngsters to a day out.

A team of enthusiastic mums, Upton 2000, is organising the event on Saturday, June 19, from noon to 4pm at Upton community centre, Hough Green Road, Widnes.

Gifts, cakes, oddments, homemade cards, plants, white elephant and tombola are just some of the many attractions.

Surestart will be entertaining children with face painting.

Visitors will have a chance to chat to community police wardens.

Martial arts and line dancers will stage demonstrations.

Hot food and drinks will be served in a caf. Proceeds from refreshments will pay for children's outing in October.

Profits from the fair will go towards the centre's 25th anniversary celebrations in December.
