Halton Simms Cross

AT Halton Simms Cross's annual presentation coach Rob Shone and stand off Neil Percival walked off with individual awards.

Rob guided the club to the league championship, premiership cup, Tetley's Lancashire cup and Widnes cup in his first season.

Percival pipped both Orrell St James' Graham Howard and Haydock's Mark Rigby for the player of the season award by just one vote.

Referee of the year was Australian Clint Sharrad, who having officiated almost every week of the season took charge of the Challenge cup final. Simon Barrie was named young referee of the year.

Orrell St James won the fair play award, having had no dismissals or sin bins.

There was a special award for Haydock secretary Frank Bradshaw, who completed 25 years in the role.

He became only the third life member of the league.
