Halton Hornets

Chorley Panthers U8s 24

Halton Farnworth Hornets U8s 40

THE Hornets played brilliantly after some below par performances to tame the Panthers in their own back yard.

The game started well for the Hornets with Matthew Crampton scoring the first of his two tries after a great pass from Daniel Hulme.

Poor defence let the strong running Panthers score almost straight away with a good try.

The Hornets then dug deep and started playing to their potential. Joe Higginson, with six try saving tackles, claimed the Widnes Caravans' top tackler award. He was ably assisted by Paddy Brady and James and Teddy Chapelhow.

Liam Naughton scored three great tries and was the Morgan Est man of the match.

Tom Calland, in only his second game, scored a try and topped the tackle count.

Daniel Tasker scored a try darting over under the sticks. Ryan Hatton looked dangerous all game and scored late on.

Ellis Sant had another great game and crossed the whitewash to top off a good week as he gained the Alder spring water best trainer award.

Chris Spendlove, Harry McDonnell, Jack Scotson and James Higginson for all their effort were unlucky not to score as good defence kept them out on the line. Chris claimed the coach's award.
