Play area finally gets the all clear

A NEW play area in Fairfield has been given the green light by the borough council after its location was renegotiated.

As reported in the Warrington Guardian last month, the Fairfield Community and Tenants Association was frustrated that plans to build a new area had stalled.

It had £16,000 from Children in Need to build a play area on the St Benedict's Primary School playing field but the proposals had been delayed by red tape at Warrington Borough Council.

However, the borough council has now announced that the work can get under way after it was decided to move the play area on to land that is totally owned by the authority.

Previously it was on land jointly owned by the council and school diocese but moving it means the borough council's neighbourhood service's department will take responsibility for the play area.
