LYMM Angling Club's fish of the week came to Lymmvale specialist Steve Mercer.
On Monday morning he landed a tench of slightly more than 11lbs, the biggest reported this year so far. Steve is a carp specialist but is happy, even elated, at catching such a fish.
Plenty of fish were caught on all open Lymm Angling Club waters over the weekend.
Water keeper and bailiff Dave Gittins enjoyed a productive afternoon on Founders Pool. He found carp to be in form and landed three ranging from 12lbs to 18lbs. Other fish among his catch were roach and perch to 1lb.
Over the weekend bailiff night patrols were out in force and encountered a number of situations that required quick action, which was taken without hesitation.
Our patrols are now undertaken as a collaborative operation with the Environment Agency and the Countryside Police Division, a joint effort that is working very well with several cards withdrawn, rod licence offences being processed, and one arrest.
This sort of bailiffing soon sends out a message to those we do not want on our waters and incidents are rare.
Unfortunately, it is necessary for the club to suspend night fishing on Founders Pool. It is anticipated this situation will not continue for too long.
