Glorious win for Warrington

WARRINGTON Cricket Club secured a glorious Murray Smith Cheshire County League victory at Walton Lea on Saturday.

Tim Johnson ripped through Urmston's top order and then inspirational skipper Agar brought on Agar senior, who mopped up the remaining five wickets for the loss of only six runs.

Warrington then knocked off the target with Rick Taylor smashing an elegant 18 runs and their reward was picking up 25 points.

Warrington entertained rivals Grappenhall in the first round of the Under 17s Knockout.

The home side posted a competitive total of 111 runs from 20 overs. B Morris, 36 and A Bray, 29, provided the platform for G Atkins to entertain the crowd with a swashbuckling 18.

The pace of Atkins and Charlton made early inroads into Grappenhall's batting line-up and the accuracy of new boys Duncalf and Arber rubber-stamped Warrington's win.
