The Mark Roughneen show at Wilderspool

Warrington Woolston Rvrs 60

THE Wilderspool crowd were treated to a breathtaking performance by Rovers' Mark Roughneen in Bank Holiday Monday's LHF Healthplan National League Three game.

Full back Roughneen crossed for six tries and added six conversions for a haul of 36 points in a man of the match wonder show that followed up his two-try man of the match performance two days earlier in the win at Bramley.

It only took two minutes for Roughneen to chalk up his first try against Knights but his next two were the most exciting.

Knights were pressing on the Rovers line.

A kick was picked up in his own in-goal area by Roughneen and he raced down the left wing on a superb 100 metres dash to score.

Next, Roughneen collected a pass in his own 20m area, raced 40 metres and then chipped ahead and won the race to score.

The other try scorers for unbeaten Rovers were Liam Horrigan, Jamie Clarke, Steve Warburton, Kris Buckley and Dave Powlesland.

AN excellent second half performance ensured that Rovers recorded their fourth league victory on the trot on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers scored 18 unanswered points after the break with Roughneen touching down a 90 metres effort to add to his first half try.

The best try soon followed from Warburton. He collected scrum half Andy Hill's long pass and broke through.
