Manchester Saints 16
Runcorn Jets 2
THE Runcorn Jets Frubes junior baseball lost 2-16 at the Manchester Saints on Saturday.
They found it hard to get into the game, as the experience of the Saints, who have a lot of Bronco players who play up to pony baseball (the next level up in baseball), was evident.
But this did not put the young Jets off, in fact it made them more determined although the final score does not reflect their effort.
It was a show of defiance that Amy, who was hit by a ball that was hit back at her, and Rachael, when playing catcher came forward for the ball and was hit by the bat (a mistake that will teach her to wait for the ball) and Brendan, who while batting was hit on the finger, all played on with little complaint, a very brave team indeed.
The Jets have three players in their last year at Bronco, Carl, Ricky and Adam.
Amy and Dean had played Bronco baseball last year, the rest, Craig, Jack, Jordan, Brendan, Glen, Liam, Rachael, Robert and Joel have never played Bronco until this year.
Carl and Robert will be out for a while because of injury, but Joel should be back in two weeks.
Many thanks to HBC sports development for their support in helping to establish baseball in Halton, and many thanks to Rocksavage for their sponsorship of the Jets new uniforms, which will arrive in the next few weeks.
Also many thanks to Arriva transport for their support of the club.
